Lepidoptera as Indicators of Biodiversity Conservation

  Butterfly conservation will hold its 5th International Symposium in the City of Southampton, UK in April 2005. For details on abstract submission, registration and booking see the Butterfly Conservation website. Key sessions are:
  • Monitoring and evaluating biodiversity and landscape change across Europe
  • Lepidoptera as indicators of other taxa
  • Special topic: Maculinea butterflies as indicators of habitat management and conservation (results of EU MacMan project)
  • Managing habitats for biodiversity - converting science into practice
  • Biodiversity ecology - butterfly and moth communities in the landscape
   
Ecology of the Butterflies in Europe
5th-10th December 2005 in Leipzig
   
  The final MacMan conference will take place as a central part of the "Ecology of Butterflies in Europe" conference, which takes place from the 5th-10th December 2005 in Leipzig. The current plans are to combine the conference with the launching of the book "Ecology of the Butterflies in Europe", Cambridge University Press (eds.: Settele, Konvicka, Shreeve, Dennis & Van Dyck). All major MacMan findings will be presented. The conference will take place at the new conference complex (KUBUS) at the UFZ in Leipzig.
