To ensure close collaboration and integration between project partners a second MacMan workshop was organised from 8^th-12^th December 2002 with some 90 participants attending, comprising of EU project partners, an advisory board made up of entomology experts and associated partners from other European countries forming a consortium to discuss and exploit Maculinea research. The second workshop presented an opportunity for Maculinea scientists to present and discuss progress and setbacks in terms of objectives achieved, exploit achievements with other project partners and set targets for 2003. Presentations were held on numerous scientific issues underpinning Maculinea research and any preliminary results were reported and discussed.
